Abrape (association of event promoters) says it is studying going to court to challenge the new Perse rules published this Monday (2), which restrict establishments that can participate in the government’s tax benefit program.
Signed by Marcelo Guaranys, Paulo Guedes’ number two, the measure was one of the last moves of the Bolsonaro government.
According to the association, the ordinance could impact companies providing services such as food and private security for events, which were left out of the list of covered segments.
Doreni Caramori, president of the entity, says that the sector will also try to dialogue with the new Ministry of Finance.
Abrape has among its associates the entertainment company T4F (Tickets For Fun), the Centro de Tradições Nordestinas, the record label Som Livre and the Jeunesse Arena.
Last year’s law provides that companies may be exempt from federal taxes (PIS, Cofins, IRPJ and CSLL) for five years. Ordinance by the PGFN (Attorney General of the National Treasury), however, limited the benefit to those registered with the Cadastur until the date of publication of the law, in May 2021.
The measure reached other segments, such as bars and snack bars, which were left out of the tax benefit.
Asked whether it would review the measure, the Finance Ministry said it would not comment.
