Panel SA: Retailers predict improvement in sales after bad year

by

After a tough year, the big retailers are starting to see a recovery in sales, especially for classes C, D and E.

The numbers are still preliminary, but 2022 ended with a growth trend compared to the end of the previous year and an expectation of warming, driven by factors such as aid of R$ 600, a drop in inflation and improvement in employment.

Reports point to an estimate of a firmer positive turn in online sales.

Retail entities should disclose consolidated data on Christmas performance starting this week.

With the return to school and the holidays, popular commerce on 25 de Março also expects progress.

If the forecast materializes, retailers in the region will experience relief after a weak movement at the end of the year.

“January is a more interesting month for us, because people travel and, depending on the type of segment, some stores benefit from tourists. And the stores that have back-to-school products have a very strong movement. in that doubt, because 2022 was not good, but the expectation is for a little more stability”, says Marcelo Mouawad, director of Univinco (União dos Lojajistas da 25 de Março and Adjacência).
