Panel SA: Entrepreneurs fear impact on the economy and demand reaction to Bolsonarist acts

Representatives of the business community say they are worried about the impact of the coup demonstrations in Brasília this Sunday (8).

Businessmen and entities representing the private sector claim that the acts may have strong implications for the economy and demand control of the situation. The assessment is that the delay may aggravate the perception of risk.

“I think that we can have a negative impact on the markets and the economy with the increase in institutional risk. That is why it is necessary to punish those responsible in an exemplary way”, says banker Ricardo Lacerda, from BR Partners.

According to Lacerda, they are “bandits and scoundrels wielding the national flag in acts of aggression against our institutions”.

Former banker and founder of the Novo party, João Amoêdo, took to social media to demand a harsh reaction.

“The federal government must act in a tough way, together with the government of Brasilia, to arrest these vandals and put an end to the anti-democratic camps that serve as a base for these acts”, wrote Amoêdo.

The CNI also released a statement calling for punishment.

“Brazil elected its new President of the Republic democratically, by voting at the ballot box. The will of the majority of the Brazilian people must be respected and honored. Such violent acts are anti-democratic and illegitimate manifestations that attack the three Powers in a vile way. The government and the institutions need to return to normal functioning, as Brazil has a very big challenge to grow again, generate jobs and wealth and achieve greater social justice”, says Robson Braga de Andrade, president of CNI, in the note.

“The Union of the Pharmaceutical Industry repudiates all types of violence and acts that violate the Brazilian Constitution. Peaceful and democratic protests, as we have already had in Brazil, are positive. Depredation of public property cannot be accepted by Brazilian society”, says Nelson Mussolini, president of Sindusfarma.
