See how much your INSS retirement goes to with a 5.93% readjustment

With the disclosure of the 2022 inflation, retirees and pensioners of the INSS (National Social Security Institute) can find out how much their benefit will go with the annual readjustment. The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) released, this Tuesday (10), the accumulated variation of the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) from January to December 2022: 5.93%.

Law 8213, of 1991, establishes that the amount of benefits paid by the INSS will be readjusted annually based on the INPC. The Pension confirmed to the Sheet which will follow the index and will soon publish an ordinance with the new INSS ceiling and the proportional readjustments, for those who started receiving a benefit from February 2022.

The calculations by lawyer Wagner da Silva e Souza, partner at Roberto de Carvalho Santos Advogados Associados, consider only the gross value and the readjustment index of 5.93% published by the IBGE. For those who are not exempt, the INSS will apply the Income Tax discount on the new readjusted benefit. Retirees and pensioners aged 65 and over are entitled to pay less tax on their income.

The calculations are valid for everyone who already received retirement or pension until January 2022, as the benefits that began to be paid from February 2022 will have the first proportional adjustment.

PAYMENT OF INSS BENEFIT WITH INCREASE

INSS policyholders will start receiving their readjusted benefits from January 25, when those earning the minimum wage have their January payroll deposits. The new minimum wage will be paid by the INSS between January 25th and February 7th. Those who receive more than the floor will have the first benefit with the readjustment of 5.93% between the 1st and 7th of February.

The INPC also corrects the INSS ceiling, which is the maximum amount for both social security benefits and contributions paid to Social Security. In 2023, it will rise from the current R$7,087.22 to R$7,507.49.
