Bartzokas: “Maccabi deserved the win as much as we did – We miss our good defenders”

After the thriller in Belgrade and his great overthrow Olympiakou against Maccabi, o George Bartzokas he appeared grounded at the press conference.

He recognized the value of the opposition, addressed the absences of his key defenders and emphasized the need for improvement in defense. At the same time, he thanked the fans who traveled from Greece and talked about the fatigue and the limited rotation of his team.

“I would like to thank our fans who came with their cars from Greece. Although we didn’t have a good game, in the end we gave them the joy of winning in the end. It was a crazy game. Maccabi deserved to win the game too, but in the fourth quarter we scored 30 points, had 26 assists, 16 in the second half and managed an 11-0 run to win. In the end we wanted 2-3 good defenses. I’m happy for the win, every game counts. We need our good defenders back because at this stage it will be a big improvement».

For Nilikika and Dorsey: “When you win you’re always happy They did the right things in the end. Maccabi beat Hapoel and it came in a similar fashion. Those shots they took decided the game. They found a rhythm with the shots. If you have a player like Dowtin or Walker you have to… pray that they miss shots. We are missing our good defenders to be tougher in defense. We have talent in attack but we need to be tougher in defence. With the work we do we will be better. It was the 4th game in a row for us and we didn’t have a big rotation. We lacked energy, we lacked players. We need to rest and get back to work».
