Unemployment insurance has a new value from this Wednesday (11)

by

Workers with unemployment insurance claims registered as of this Wednesday (11) will already have the benefit with the annual readjustment. The minimum amount is now R$ 1,302, equal to the base salary.

The three insurance ranges were readjusted by the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) registered in 2022, of 5.93%.

The value of the benefit paid to unemployed workers varies according to their average salary in the three months prior to dismissal.

If it is up to R$ 1,968.36, the benefit will correspond to 80% of the average salary. The easiest way to calculate this value is to multiply the average salary by 0.8.

In the intermediate range, for those with an average salary between R$ 1,968.37 and R$ 3,280.93, unemployment insurance will be calculated in two stages. First, the worker calculates the amount that exceeds R$ 1,968.36 and multiplies this difference by 0.5. This result will then be added to 1,574.69.

Finally, the unemployment insurance ceiling this year will be R$ 2,230.97, paid to all workers who have an average wage greater than R$ 3,280.93.

The formal worker earns the right to unemployment insurance if he has received at least 12 wages in the 18 months prior to the dismissal – there is no need, therefore, for the bond to have occurred for a consecutive year.

After the first request, the grace period decreases. Nine wages are required for 12 months and, from the third request onwards, having received at least six wages in the period preceding the dismissal.

The number of unemployment insurance installments also varies according to the application and the duration of work that preceded the application.

The first time you apply for the benefit, the worker will receive it for five months if you have worked at least 24 months in the last 36 months (two years of registration in the portfolio in the previous three years). For those who worked between 12 and 23 months in the last three years, the insurance will be paid in four installments.

In the second request, the rules for having four or five installments are the same. There is also the possibility of receiving three installments, in the case of those who worked between nine and 11 months in the 36 months that preceded the dismissal.
