The Extended National Consumer Price Index-15 (IPCA-15), preview of official inflation, rose 0.78% in December and ended the year 2021 with an accumulated increase of 10.42%, informed the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) this Thursday (23).
In November, the IPCA-15 had risen 1.17%.
A Reuters survey of economists estimated an increase of 0.80% month-on-month and 10.45% year-on-year.
The country’s official inflation index is the IPCA (Extended National Consumer Price Index), also calculated by the IBGE.
The IPCA-15, as it was released earlier, signals a trend for prices. Hence, it is known as a preview.
