Autonomous motoboys decided to suspend this Tuesday (17) a stoppage of delivery services by apps scheduled for next week. The measure was taken after a meeting between leaders of the movement and the secretary of Solidarity Economy, Gilberto Carvalho.
Speaking to couriers, Carvalho said that meeting the demands of the category, which includes regulating work by application, is considered a priority by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The agendas discussed during the meeting will be taken to the PT on Wednesday (18).
The talks, held in São Paulo, gathered around 15 people. One of the confirmed proposals was the creation of a working group dedicated to the issue of regulation of work by application, which was considered after the announcement of the stoppage.
“We are going to suspend the demonstration because we managed to dialogue with the government. He [o secretário Gilberto Carvalho] promised that he would set up a working group, with us involved, and asked for a well-assembled plan to present to President Lula”, says Jr. Freitas, director of the Alliance of Application Deliverers and leader of the articulation in São Paulo.
Freitas says he is optimistic about the possibility of claiming rights for the category through the law and the Ministry of Labor. “Applications have been on the market for almost ten years and have never been able to solve all the problems. Through the government, we have more concrete support”, says the self-employed delivery man.
“We remain open to dialogue, whatever the application, but now we have that door open,” he says.
A new meeting should be held with the motoboys within 30 days – and with the presence of the Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, according to a promise made to those present this Tuesday.
The movement calls for better working conditions, readjustment of the delivery fee, the end of double and triple deliveries within the same path and the creation of a social fund for the protection of workers, among other points.
The stoppage, which was scheduled for the 25th of this month, would take place in shopping centers across the country, collection points and in front of Ifood offices, one of the main delivery apps on the market.
