Folha launches a series of reports Professional Public of the Future

by

During the next three months, the Sheet publishes a series of eight reports with the theme Public Professional of the Future, which will cover fundamental aspects for the discussion of the quality of public service in the 21st century.

In partnership with República.org —an institute that works on the agenda for improving people management in the Brazilian public service—, the initiative, anchored in the Public Life section, will address issues that permeate the debate on professional needs for social advances in Brazil.

The valuation of the career, changes expected for the entrance doors by the contests, vocation and public spirit, the public service in the world, the increase of new technologies and the plurality of representations are some subjects that will be evidenced.

The series of texts listens to experts, scholars and public agents from different areas and intends to contribute to discussions both for those who already work in government areas and those who aim to develop a public career.

In the report on vocations, for example, specialists point out the characteristics that a candidate must have when choosing a career in the public service, such as commitment and love for the profession, since civil servants are like guardians of public policies that change people’s lives .

Women are highlighted in an analysis that shows the challenges of public careers, where political appointments still predominate at high levels, and how qualifications can determine the success of updated servants.

In another approach, the report raises a question: do public tenders really select the most prepared candidates? How should they modernize?

The reader will also travel across the five continents to understand how civil service works in countries such as the United States, Chile, South Africa, Australia, China and France — the latter developed the model that inspired the Brazilian system.

The reports also raise other debates, such as the sectors where servers are lacking and where there are ongoing changes.

As part of the launch of the series, this Thursday (19), at 5 pm, the Sheet promotes a live with Vera Monteiro, professor of Administrative Law at FGV Direito-SP (São Paulo Law School of the Getulio Vargas Foundation), and with Renata Vilhena, president of the Board of República.org. Mediation will be handled by Jairo Marques, editor of Vida Pública.
