Market Pass: Gazette published – The platform opens from February 1st

The relevant decision on the granting of the Market Pass was published in the Official Gazette, where details are given on how the shopping card will be granted from February 2023 to July 2023 to the beneficiaries.

The vouchers.gov.gr platform will be operational from February 1st until March 15th and the beneficiaries will enter with the Taxis codes.

According to the decision, a 10% subsidy is given on the purchases of households that meet the inclusion criteria, in supermarkets, bakeries, mini-markets, fruit shops, butchers, fish shops, dairy shops and other food retail stores.

The monthly purchase subsidy limit per household amounts to 220 euros for a single-member household, increasing by 100 euros for each additional member and up to 1,000 euros of purchases.

The above amounts will be credited monthly to a digital debit card that can be used exclusively in food retail stores.

When will the amounts be paid?

For applications submitted by March 15, payment will be made by March 20, while for the remaining months payment will be made by the third day of each month.

For those who choose to deposit into a bank account, because the amounts will be paid in three equal bimonthly installments, the last payment will be made by May 3 and they will receive 80% of the aid and not 100%.

Who are the beneficiaries?

Beneficiaries of the aid are natural persons, single or married or widowed or persons who have entered into a cohabitation agreement or are separated or divorced.

Especially, for married people or persons who have entered into a cohabitation agreement, the beneficiary is the person liable to submit the income tax return, according to article 67 of the Income Tax Code (law 4172/2013, A’167) or one of the two in case of submission of a separate declaration.

The income criteria

Natural persons are entitled to aid if they meet the following criteria:

a) Income criterion
Singles should have an annual income of up to 16,000 euros.
Married couples should have an income of 24,000 euros, increased by 5,000 euros for each child.
Single-parent families should have an income of up to 24,000 euros, plus 5,000 euros for each dependent child.

b) Property criterion

The amount of real estate for unmarried persons is up to 250,000 euros and for married persons up to 400,000 euros.

The following are excluded from the granting of aid:

a) The natural persons, who are declared in the 2021 tax year Personal Income Tax Declaration as dependent members of the debtor according to article 11 of the Income Tax Code.

b) Natural persons, who declare in the Personal Income Tax Declaration for the tax year 2021 that they are hosted.

c) The natural persons subject to the luxury living tax for the tax year 2021.

d) Tax residents abroad.

e) The natural persons who have not submitted the income tax return for the tax year 2021 until 31.12.2022.

The aid is granted at the household level. Spouses or members with a cohabitation agreement, their dependent children, other dependent members and guest members are considered household members.
