A serious traffic accident occurred on Saturday morning, in Livadia Chania, while the assistance of the fire department was needed to extricate two people.
According to information, it all started when an IX car collided, under unclear circumstances, with a commercial catering van.
The drivers of the vehicles were injured by the collision, while the mobilization was immediate, with the fire brigade arriving at the scene in “zero” time, to extricate them. The driver of the truck, who has minor injuries, and the 44-year-old car driver, being conscious, were picked up by EKAV ambulances that rushed to the scene and took them to the Chania hospital.
There were also two small boys in the vehicle, who were taken to the hospital for a preventive check-up, not by ambulance, but by a relative, without sustaining injuries.
The Chania traffic police rushed to the incident, which has started a preliminary investigation into the circumstances under which the accident occurred. The traffic accident caused a traffic jam for a few minutes.
