Dollar is stable at the opening with Lula in Argentina and inflation on the radar

by

The spot dollar showed little variation against the real in the first trades this Monday (23), having on the radar the new worsening in inflation expectations in the Focus survey and the visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Argentina, where he should discuss the economic integration between countries, including the development of a regional currency for commercial use.

Abroad, the dollar was slightly higher against a basket of strong currencies. Part of the Asian markets are closed due to the Lunar New Year holiday.

At 9:17 am (Brasília time), the spot dollar operated stable, at R$ 5.2085 in the sale.

This Friday (20), the Stock Exchange fell, but managed to accumulate a rise in the week, with the performance of Petrobras and Vale offsetting the effects of a more aggressive speech by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) questioning the current inflation target and the independence of the Central Bank, a factor that led the dollar and interest rates to rise.

The Ibovespa closed down 0.78% this Friday, at 112,040 points. For the week, the index was up 1%. The spot commercial dollar closed with an advance of 0.73% against the real, at R$ 5.207. Thus, the currency ended the week with an appreciation of almost 2%.
