On March 10, Kostis Hatzidakis will submit his proposal to the cabinet – From April 1, the new minimum wage will come into force
From 753 euros to 826 euros, the new minimum wage is expected to be formed from April 1, according to the proposals submitted by all the involved bodies and will be assessed by the Ministry of Labour.
SKAI and Chrysostomos Tsoufis reveal the amounts proposed by each involved body, as well as the conditions they set, so that the increase is functional and does not cause consequences.
More specifically:
– GSEE proposes an increase in the minimum wage to 826 euros
– The Bank of Greece notes that there is no problem with any increase below the level of inflation, which means that the minimum wage goes up to 780 euros.
– KEPE proposes that the minimum wage should reach between 760 and 780 euros. The proposal of the KEPE is more important, as it is the body that will gather all the proposals and make the final recommendation to the ministry. He also notes that salaries over 780 euros lose the tax-free allowance, which means a loss in total income.
– GSEVEE proposes an increase of 8-10%, with the minimum wage being between 770 and 784 euros.
– The ESEE proposes a 7% increase, with the minimum wage set at 763 euros.
– SETE proposes an increase of the minimum to 753 euros.
Employers (GSEVEE, ESEE, SETE) accept the increase in the minimum wage, but request a further reduction in non-insurance costs and a reduction in taxation, proposing the abolition of the pretense fee.
The above proposals will be collected by the KEPE, which will submit its final proposal to the Minister of Labour. Kostis Hatzidakis, in turn, will evaluate, in collaboration with the prime minister and the ministers involved, the proposals and on March 10, he will submit his proposal to the cabinet.
The government’s decision on the minimum wage will be implemented from April 1.
