Panel SA: App delivery companies suggest the government to improve statistics to regulate work

by

Representatives of application delivery companies took to the Ministry of Labor this Tuesday (7) a proposal for modeling a public policy for couriers.

One of the suggestions is the creation of a database with basic information on couriers, according to the MID (Digital Innovation Movement), which brings together more than 170 companies such as Mercado Livre, Rappi, Loggi, Zé Delivery and Lalamove.

The MID, which participated in the meeting with the ministry, claims that without this social design, it will be difficult to formulate a benefits package that meets couriers and does not cause companies to flee. The assessment is that it is still necessary to include information such as address and telephone number in official records, in addition to doing a fine-tooth comb to identify workers who are active in the apps.

“We believe that we will be able to build a regulation that serves workers by application, government and companies. We start from democratic dialogue, something that we constantly need to emphasize as the only way out to have efficient public policies. And this government is the hope that we have to resume this premise in Brazil. The first step is for the government to listen to couriers and drivers who are actually working on the streets”, said Vitor Magnani, president of MID.

The government has been holding meetings with the sector. Last month, in Davos (Switzerland), the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, spoke with the CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi. The Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, met with company executives again this Wednesday (9).

iFood has also participated in conversations with the folder. The two sector giants publicly defend the inclusion of workers in the social security system, but the solution is still considered insufficient by representatives of the category.
