Diesel drops 1.1% in stations with first transfers of the cut in refineries

by

The diesel price cut at Petrobras refineries, in force since this Wednesday (8), has not yet fully arrived at the posts, according to the ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels) price survey.

The S-10 diesel was sold this week at an average price of R$ 6.32 per liter, down 1.1%, or R$ 0.07 per liter, compared to the previous week. Petrobras’ cut was 7.8% and, considering the 10% blend of biodiesel, it would represent a transfer of R$ 0.35 per liter.

Data is collected by the ANP on the first days of the week, which may distort the transfer perception. “The arrival of new values to the market depends mainly on transfers from distributors”, said on Wednesday Paranapetro, which represents the stations in Paraná.

“In previous increases, the distribution companies passed on price increases with great agility to the service stations, often immediately, and even with values higher than those disclosed by Petrobras”, he added.

The price of gasoline fell 0.8%, after a week of highs with transfers of the 7.4% increase announced by the state-owned company at the end of January. This week, the national average price was R$ 5.08 per liter.

The price of hydrous ethanol also turned after a week of highs. This week, the product was sold, on average, at R$ 3.80 per liter, R$ 0.02 below last week.

According to the ANP, the price of cooking gas remained stable during the week, at R$ 108.00 per 13-kilogram cylinder, against R$ 108.20 in the previous week.

The escalation in the price of the product, which weighs heavily on the budget of low-income families, has caused sales of cylinders of less than 13 kilos in 2022 to be at their lowest level in the last ten years.

After the price adjustments of the last few weeks, the market doesn’t see room for change right now. According to data from Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers) gasoline and diesel prices at Brazilian refineries are in line with international prices.

At the opening of the market this Friday (10), the average price of gasoline produced in the country was 1%, or R$ 0.05 per liter, above the import parity, a concept that simulates how much it would cost to import the product. Diesel was 1%, or R$0.03 per liter, cheaper.
