The president of Petrobras, Jean Paul Prates, said in a note this Monday (13) that the company is getting closer to other major companies in the sector to build new opportunities for cooperation both in the oil and gas segment and for the energy transition.
The statement was made after the executive received the global CEO of the Anglo-Dutch Shell, Wael Sawan, and the president of Shell in Brazil, Cristiano Pinto da Costa, at the Brazilian oil company’s building in BrasÃlia.
“This initiative is part of my new approach of dealing directly with the global CEOs of large companies in the segment to advance in the energy transition”, said Prates.
Later, Sawan and Prates will attend a meeting with the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, at the Planalto Palace.
Brazil is the first country to be visited by Wael Sawan since he took over Shell’s global leadership in January 2023, which demonstrates the importance of Brazil in the company’s portfolio, Petrobras said.
“We will go to the Planalto Palace together to talk with President Lula, a great sponsor of this agenda”, highlighted Prates.
Shell has been seeking to accelerate investments in the energy transition, with initiatives in solar energy, biofuels and offshore wind energy.
