Strong upward trends prevailed in today’s Stock Exchange session with the market closing at 8.5-year highs.

Banking shares were at the center of investment interest.

The General Price Index closed at 1,123.23 points, marking an increase of 1.86%.

It is the highest close since the session of September 22, 2014 (1,133.06 points).

The value of the transactions amounted to 120.89 million euros, while 45,446,758 shares were traded.

The large-cap index gained 2.27%, while the mid-cap index gained 1.35%.

Of the high capitalization shares, the biggest increase was recorded by the shares of Alpha Bank (+5.91%), National Bank (+5.70%), Eurobank (+5.09%), Piraeus (+4, 20%) and of ELPE (+2.54%).

On the contrary, the decline was marked by the shares of Sarantis (-1.47%) and Elvalhalcor (-0.64%).

Of the individual indices, the Banks (+5.04%) and Financial Services (+3.35%) indices showed the biggest increase, while Trade (-0.84%) and Health ( -0.50%).

The largest volume of transactions was presented by Alpha Bank and Eurobank, trading 17,511,157 and 6,592,726 shares, respectively.

The highest value of transactions was recorded by Alpha Bank with 25.20 million euros and Piraeus with 14.21 million euros.

70 stocks moved up, 38 fell and 24 remained stable.

The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: Tria ‘Alfa (p) +15.24% and Livani Editions +12.31%.

The biggest drop was recorded by the shares: Yalco -19.57% and Sato -13.93%.
