Special references to 6 central areas of action for Fthiotida and the wider region were made from Lamia by the Minister of Economy, Mr. Christos Staikouras, analyzing the initiatives that have been taken in the fields of health, education and research, road axes, infrastructures, tourism development but also the other regional development projects.

Mr. Staikouras clearly defined the landscape and the position of our country, vis-a-vis the European data and underlined the main axes of the policy, listing a multitude of structural changes and reforms, stressing that “the results of this effort are particularly encouraging and demonstrate the positive perspectives of the Greek economy which faces the new major challenges of the time from an improved position” as he said.

The finance minister himself spoke of “an increase in productivity and incomes” as he said “results in the gradual reduction of income and social inequalities”.

The Minister of Finance acknowledged that there are “chronic lags with intra-regional and inter-regional disparities” in our country which, as he said, “became more intense with the emergence of the health pandemic”.

He himself, making special reference to the investment tools used in each direction, whether they concern the NSRF or the Recovery Fund, together with the important private funds, he determined that “in the next period there will be an acceleration of investments, especially with regard to the emblematic projects “which, as he characteristically pointed out, “will be the catalysts for the transformation of the country and especially the regions”.

He emphasized as decisive the importance of the utilization of financial resources, but also of “policy tools and with the close cooperation of economic and self-government bodies” noting that “the production model itself changes the business environment, improves and strengthens competitiveness and fights against so-called development trap”.
