New parental leave allowance: The platform for electronic applications opened – Detailed steps

Today, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, the electronic application for the subsidy of parental leave of law 4808/2021 for the “Protection of Labor” of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs was activated.

After submitting the application and posting to the PS. INSTRUMENTS of the special form “Parental Leave” by the employer, OAED will pay the allowance to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. From today, the special form “Parental Leave” will be available at PS. INSTRUMENTS for its completion by the employers.

When will the payments be made?

Payments will appear on the accounts within 3 business days after payment. There is no reason to attend the Employment Promotion Centers (KPA2) of OAED.

It is pointed out that those applications that had already been submitted to KPA2, during the period before the start of the electronic application, do not need to be submitted electronically again. The KPA2 will process the applications that included a certificate or a responsible statement of the employer for the granting of parental leave, while for the applications that did not include corresponding certificates or responsible statements, the special “Parental Leave” forms will be searched ex officio by the KPA2 through .Σ. INSTRUMENTS if they have been posted by the employer.

Who is entitled to parental leave?

It is reminded that the parental leave for a period of 4 months is granted continuously or partially for both parents with an allowance from OAED for the first two months, equal to the minimum wage. The only condition is the employee’s employment for the same employer for 1 year. If there are more children, the parents have the right to take leave for them as well, since the expiration of the leave given for the previous child was mediated by one year of real employment with the same employer. Exceptionally, parents of twins, triplets or more multiple children are entitled to obtain parental leave for each child separately, intermittently or continuously, without interval of one year of actual service. In case of adoption or adoption of a child up to 8 years old, the leave is granted by the integration of the child in the family.

At the request of the employee, parental leave may be granted alternatively in the form of reduced daily hours or days off, without prejudice to the employee’s right to receive parental leave allowance. According to a transitional provision, OAED will pay the parental leave allowance to the parents who received the leave under the previous framework (which did not provide for an allowance) if this leave had not expired on June 19, 2021, the date on which the leave entered into force. new law.

The time of the part of the leave during which the employee receives an allowance from OAED is considered as insurance time in the main pension and sickness branches of the relevant insurance body as well as in the relevant auxiliary insurance bodies.
