Faced with the growth in cases of sick leave of health professionals contaminated by the ômicron, the president of Coren-SP (Regional Nursing Council of São Paulo), James Santos, says that hospitals should increase hiring to replace staff cuts made in the last year when the pandemic statistics improved, before the new overload.
Anahp (which brings together the large hospitals of the private network) decided to ask the Ministry of Health for a reduction in the isolation time of professionals on leave, but Santos says that the measure does not solve the problem of lack of manpower.
“It will not improve in any way the service to the population and, much less, the working condition of professionals. On the contrary, it will harm. There will be a professional still in a period of convalescence, with increased risk to their health, returning to work earlier and with the increase in demand”, says Santos.
The entity says it will send a note to the Ministry of Health to contest Anahp’s initiative.
