In the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between him Ministry of Finance of Greece and the Ministry of Finance of Egypt, signed today at the Ministry of Finance, Minister Christos Staikouras and his Egyptian counterpart Dr. Mohamed Maait.

The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed in the context of the close relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and follows an earlier visit by Mr. Staikouras to Egypt.

His goal Memorandum is the further development and strengthening of bilateral economic relations, with the aim of optimal coordination for the management of issues of mutual interest. Among other things, it is foreseen that an annual meeting of the two involved parties will be held, in order to discuss issues related to domestic and international economic developments, as well as policies and actions for their management.

In the private meeting that preceded the signing of the Memorandum, the Finance Ministers and the delegations of the two countries discussed issues related to the current economic situation of Greece and Egypt, the possibilities of further strengthening economic and commercial ties between the two states, as and the possibilities of stimulating investment initiatives from one country to another. Finally, issues related to the Alliance of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, of which Greece and Egypt are members, were discussed.
