The Greek Minister of Tourism informed the ambassadors about the strategy he followed in the last two years resulting in the full recovery of Greek tourism after the pandemic
Speech on “the future of the Greek tourism industry” was held this afternoon at the Swedish Institute by the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias, in response to the invitation of the ambassador of Sweden (presidency country in the EU) Johan Borgstam, and with the participation of the heads of embassies (Ambassadors/Charges) of all the member states of the European Union Union.
The Greek Minister of Tourism informed the ambassadors about the strategy he followed in the last two years resulting in the full recovery of Greek tourism after the pandemic, the strengthening of the national economy through strong travel revenues as well as the attraction of investments from international giants for the development of large hotel units and infrastructure projects.
The ambassadors confirmed the strong interest in investing in Greece due to the impressive tourism development and expressed their interest in the infrastructure projects being promoted in the country with funding from the National Recovery Fund and national resources, the further promotion of alternative destinations, the promotion of of tourism which is a pole of attraction for more and more travelers as well as for the planning of the Ministry with the aim of Greece having tourism all 12 months of the year.
“The upgrading of tourist infrastructure in Greece with an emphasis on sustainable development and the green and blue economy has already begun and is the bet of the coming years. By making use of the available financial tools, and especially the RRF, we are proceeding with projects that will give further impetus to Greek tourism, with the main axes being the protection of the environment and the preservation of the identity of our country and its cultural heritage” said Mr. Kikilias characteristically.
