Bourbos: “The teams should respect the footballers – Don’t sweep the problem under the carpet”

A very important issue for many footballers concerns the debts owed to them by the state, the football authorities, and also the teams.

It is a very current problem, which has led to very painful events, such as his suicide Nikos Tsoumanis or the recent attempt by a former football player of his Mars.

For this matter he spoke in his air News Bulletin 247 and the show “Appeal of Tuesday” o Christos Bourbosformer football player and current president of the “Free Footballers Movement”, an organization that deals with exactly this issue.

“I had reached my limits, I threw my hands up and that’s how we made KEP, which represents veteran and new footballers and offers immediate payment of the lawyers they need to claim their rights and have hope that something will change”, commented Bourbos, who emphasized that the issue of financial difficulties due to non-payment of accruals is very current and concerns many current and former footballers. In fact, he admitted that he himself faced the same issue, stating that “lost about half a million in football”.

Finally, he emphasized that the teams should respect the footballers, as it is simply about their earnings and they have to pay them, while he described the solution of the problem as “imperative”, since if this is “swept under the carpet”, there will be and other painful events.
