Stock prices closed slightly higher in today’s (Thursday) session of the Stock Exchange, just below the resistance of 1,100 units.

The market moved against bearish sentiment in European markets, which were retreating in the wake of the ECB’s interest rate decisions. The ECB proceeded with a smaller interest rate hike of 25 basis points, but sent the message that there will be no immediate halt to the hikes.

The General Price Index closed at 1,098.57 units, rising 0.24%.

Intra-session recorded a higher price at 1,102.44 points (+0.59%) and a lower price at 1,092.18 points (-0.34%)

The value of the transactions amounted to 66.25 million euros, while 19,129,063 shares were traded.

The large-cap index rose 0.25%, while the mid-cap index fell 0.14%.

Of the high capitalization shares, the biggest increase was recorded by the shares of Piraeus (+1.85%), Eurobank (+1.60%), Mytilene (+1.47%) and Ethniki (+0.95 %).

On the contrary, the biggest fall was recorded by the shares of ADMIE (-1.78%), Motor Oil (-1.67%), Sarantis (-1.56%) and Quest Participations (-1.42%).

Of the individual indices, the largest increase was recorded by the indices of Financial Services (+8.38%), Industrial Products (+1.24%) and Banks (+1.01%), while the largest losses were recorded by the indices of Health (-2.67%) and Oil (-1.29%).

The largest volume of transactions was presented by Piraeus and Alpha Bank, trading 4,686,973 and 4,636,385 shares, respectively.

The highest transaction value was recorded by Piraeus with 10.77 million euros and Mytilene with 10.09 million euros.

39 stocks moved up, 54 fell and 17 remained stable.

The biggest increase was recorded by the shares: MIG +28.81% and Progressive +11.70%.

The biggest drop was registered by the shares: Fieratex -7.54% and Frigoglass -5.83%.
