Gerdau says operations in MG are affected by rains

by

Gerdau reported this Tuesday (11) that it has faced operational problems at its units in Minas Gerais due to the heavy rains that hit the state and which caused a number of mining companies to suspend activities in recent days.

The company, which has steel production and mining operations in MG, said that despite the problems, “supply to customers remains unchanged” and that these difficulties “should be mitigated within the next few days.”

Highways in Minas Gerais, including BR-040 and MG-030, were blocked off, making it difficult to transport supplies, products and people, according to bulletins from the Ministry of Infrastructure released the day before.

Vale, CSN, Usiminas, Samarco and Vallourec interrupted part of their operations in the State. The day before, ArcelorMittal also reported that it was adopting “preventive and corrective” measures to mitigate the impacts of the rains on its operations, due to road blocks and prioritizing safety. At the time, the company said that the impacts of the rains on its operations were “punctual and are being resolved”.

According to Gerdau, “all its mining structures are stable, with no change in the level of safety”. The company also stated that it keeps monitoring the structures in real time.

Gerdau shares were up 2.1% at 12:57 pm, while the Ibovespa showed a gain of 0.86%.
