The government has updated the table of values ​​used to calculate unemployment insurance paid to laid-off workers. With the annual correction, valid since last Tuesday (11), the minimum value for this year rose to R$ 1,212, following the new national minimum wage. Last year, this amount was R$ 1,100.

The maximum amount of unemployment insurance is now BRL 2,106.08, a difference of BRL 194.24 from the previous ceiling of BRL 1,911.84. The maximum amount is paid to workers who earn an average salary above R$3,097.26.

To update salary ranges, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security takes into account the variation of the INPC (National Consumer Price Index) for 2021, which was 10.16%. The index is also used in the annual adjustment of INSS pensions above the minimum wage.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Welfare, the new unemployment insurance amounts will be due to workers who have installments issued for withdrawals from January 11th. In other words, the new calculation is applied both for those who are still going to apply for unemployment insurance and for the next installments that are issued to beneficiaries who are already receiving insurance.

In the salary range of up to BRL 1,858.17, the average salary must be multiplied by 0.8 to calculate the installment. For the salary range between BRL 1,858.18 and BRL 3,097.26, the installment is calculated as follows: the amount greater than BRL 1,858.17 must be multiplied by 0.5 and then added to BRL 1,486.53.

Three to five installments are paid, depending on the months worked, and the dismissed person must not have other employment ties.

To be entitled, the professional must access the Emprega Brasil portal, from the Ministry of Labor, and apply for the benefit between the 7th and 120th day after the date of dismissal, in the case of formal workers, and from the 7th to the 90th day, in the case of formal workers. domestic worker case.

Anyone who has been dismissed without just cause and has received wages, from a legal or individual entity, for 12 months in the last 18 months immediately prior to the date of dismissal can receive the benefit, in the case of a worker who applies for unemployment insurance for the first time. .
