To contain the advance of the omni, the City of Curitiba determined that the establishments use only 70% of their occupation.
The decision, announced this Thursday (13), was taken by the Technical and Medical Ethics Committee of the Municipal Health Department and is valid until January 20.
In a statement, the prefecture says that the measures also aim to protect the health system from overload. This week, Curitiba recorded an average of 7,000 new cases of Covid.
The city maintains the mandatory use of a mask in public spaces or collective use and the ban on the consumption of alcoholic beverages on public roads.
Fabio Aguayo, who directs Abrabar, an association of bars and nightclubs in Paraná, says he regrets the resumption of the restriction, but understands that the moment is of alert and this can help to raise awareness. Abrabar has defended the suspension of street Carnival this year. Aguayo assesses that a new wave of contamination at parties could prolong the economic impact of Covid on the sector.
“We hope that, from now on, people will be more aware and avoid large agglomerations. Our challenge will be Carnival. We had a sample on New Year’s Eve. The population needs to be aware that the pandemic is not over. wants to be vaccinated. The problem is no longer his. It is a collective problem”, he says.
