American movie giant AMC will expand its reach outside the entertainment industry and enter the popcorn market.
As of 2022, the popcorn sold in movie theaters since 1920 will also be distributed in kiosks in malls in the United States. The business plan provides for delivery of the product in the country and a microwave version in supermarkets.
The company, which came close to bankruptcy in the pandemic, is seeking to diversify its business with new sources of revenue.
Adam Aron, chairman of the board of AMC, says he sees the initiative as natural and believes the product is also popular outside of network theaters.
