Memorandum of cooperation signed by Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industrythrough its president, Vassilis Korkidis, with Liu Fuxuehead of China’s import trade authorities, with the aim of developing partnerships to participate in the 6th International Import Expo to be held in China in November 2023.

This is stated in his announcement EBEPwhile it is noted that the presentation of the objectives of the exhibition took place in the context of a special event at PPA.

On the occasion of the signing of the MoU, Mr. Korkidis he noted that the chamber utilizes every available tool to develop the export activities of its members in global markets, including the Chinese market, whose dimensions are gigantic.

In the field of “export competition”, emphasized Mr. Korkidis, “there is no luxury of complacency and the continuation of tried and tested practices, but there is an urgent need to cultivate a new culture, capable of imparting dynamics, in order to open the “fan” of exportable products. A good Greek product can leave a positive impression on a market with particular interest in our country. A good Greek product can be “clipped” with another product and a new surplus value is created. We should not think “one-dimensionally” in exports”, he pointed out characteristically, to remind that the EBEP has recommended in the policy of strengthening export activities the elements of quality, but also of innovation, of -in the good sense of the term- “patent” , but also of the synergies that can be created between businesses.

As he mentioned, the chamber has already hosted two multi-member business missions from Chinato explore the development of cooperation, both in import and export trade in the context of an outward-looking policy which, also, the chamber has recommended as a policy, as it argues that competitiveness is a vital factor, in terms of drawing development strategy for businesses that want to safeguard their viability.

The 6th International Import Expo which will take place in China in November 2023, as he said, is a first-class opportunity for Greek companies to position themselves in the Chinese market and, at the same time, a first-class opportunity for companies active in the construction of materials for ships to “pass” their products in Chinese shipyards, where a considerable number of ships are built on behalf of Greek shipowners.

For his part, the head of the Chinese delegation noted the importance of cooperation with the EBEP, while praising the good trade relations between Greece and China, noting that through the exhibition Greek exporters can present themselves dynamically in the Chinese market, with all their product range.

In this exhibition, Chinese companies, as he typically said, will be buyers, while he also presented the fields covered by the exhibition by sector.
