All ready for new, “blue and white” distinctions! Greek mini football team presented its jersey to its sponsors and the media, in the impressive foyer of the Municipal Theater of Piraeus. The presentation of the jersey was made on the occasion of our team’s presence at the SOCCA World Cup 2023, which starts on June 2nd at Kennedyplatz in Essen, Germany. The event was presented by the well-known journalist Vassilis Skoundis, while representatives of the municipal authority of the Municipality of Piraeus were present, as well as the entire Greek team, which trained before leaving at the welcoming and ultra-modern facilities of the SEF Soccer Club in Piraeus.
The coach of the team, Giorgos Bastakis, emphasized that last year’s 5th place finish shows the way for this year’s event and added that everyone is ready to try to reach an even higher point.
The captain of the team Chrysanthos Lefkaritis argued that the Greek team is waiting for how and how to be anonymous in front of the Greeks of Germany and to emphasize the national emblem.
The assistant coach, Sifis Manoloudis, commented on the expectations of the team’s staff and added that there is satisfaction for the zeal of the players in training.
Stratos Fouskas, a player who was voted in the last World Cup as a member of the 2nd best six, argued that the climate in the team is family-oriented, which is an absurdity for distinction.
Thanasis Basdekis, Head Of Sponsorships of OPAP, emphasized that the organization is a timeless and leading supporter of amateur sports, with the Hellenic Mini Football Team being the flagship of student football, which through the OPAP Unileague organization employs over 5,000 footballers in 11 cities throughout Greece.
Giorgos Triantafyllidis, Marketing Director of VETO, UMBRO’s official representative in Greece who dresses the Greek team, emphasized that the company is and will continue to be by their side, wishing them good success.
Nikolas Papazisis, appointed managing director of the “Theseas” Rehabilitation Center, stated that the Center’s state-of-the-art equipment is always at the disposal of internationals and argued that this effort deserves the support it receives.
Also sponsors of the Greek football team are the insurance company NOS and R-GOL.com, the largest football store in Central Europe. The communication sponsor of the Greek team is Cosmote TV, which will broadcast all the team’s games in the World Championship in Essen.
In their greetings, the President of OPAN Municipality of Piraeus, Iosif Vourakis, emphasized that the Municipality of Piraeus is always by the side of amateur sports with actions and wished good success to our footballers in the World Championship, while the President of SEF, Christina Tsiligiri said, among other things, that she expects the trophy, in order to have a special celebration in the Municipality of Piraeus!
The Greek Team left today for Essen, Germany and is expected to have on its side the entire Greek community of Germany, as well as the consular authorities, who expect to vigorously support the effort of the blue and white for distinction. The Greeks have been drawn in Group G with rivals Italy, Belgium and Saudi Arabia.
