The number of bank branches temporarily closed in the country after the advance of the ômicron reached 818 on January 12, according to Febraban (Brazilian Federation of Banks).
The units are closed for disinfection when employees infected by Covid-19 or Influenza appear, according to the banks.
Closings vary daily and can be for a few hours or even a day, depending on the size and location of the branch. The cleaning process does not impact service capacity, says Febraban, thanks to digital service channels, both on the internet and through apps.
The number fluctuated over the month. It went from 520 units closed on the 11th to 818 the following day. The most recent data updated by the federation of banks points to 641 units on January 14th.
