With the approach of Black Friday and end-of-year parties, the hiring of temporary workers is heated. This is an opportunity for those who are looking for their first job or are unemployed and want to return to the job market.

Daniel Campos Neto, from EDC Group, an HR (Human Resources) consultancy, points out that temporary employment is an opportunity for workers to show their skills and abilities, and can be hired at the end of the contract.

Another advantage is the flexibility of requirements, as positions do not always require experience and other skills, such as a second language.

This is because the worker is hired for a specific function, such as replacement of goods, store organization or logistics assistant. “The narrower the scope, the fewer requirements,” says Campos Neto.

Even if the period does not end with the tenure, this is an opportunity for the person to establish professional contacts. If she is not hired by the company she worked for, she may be referred to a position at another company.

Asserttem (Brazilian Association of Temporary Work) estimates that 565,000 temporary workers will be hired between October and December this year. Compared to the same period in 2020, the increase is 20%, says the association.

According to the organization, this contracting model gives more security to companies, which are still experiencing the uncertainty of a resumption of demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gabriela Mative, HR director at Luandre Human Resources, points out that one of the main segments that are hiring temporary workers is the online commerce chain, mainly in the logistics area.

Among the companies registered with the recruiting agency, in the pandemic, there was an increase of 300% in admissions related to this sector, as the physical trade had to close.

Experience must be in the curriculum

The law says that the temporary contract, which can be for up to nine months, must be registered in the work card, having access to all labor rights.

The only difference in relation to effective contractors is that, at the end of the contract, the temporary one is not entitled to pay the termination fine of 40% of the FGTS.

And, even if the company opts for informality, with the signing of an unregistered contract, the employee must add experience to the resume.

Daniel Campos Neto, from the EDC Group, says that recruiters consider all types of experience and tend to give priority to those who, even without formal employment, have not been left idle.

The tip is also valid for other professional experiences, such as volunteer and freelance work, points out Guilherme Dias, co-founder of Gupy, a technology company for HR.
