A temporary restriction is placed on the marketing of cosmetic products for professional use until the measures for the coronavirus are passed. From now on, professional products will be sold only to professionals with the presentation of the professional identity. This was decided today at the meeting that the Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, had with the presidency of the Sectoral Federation of Barber-Hairdressers of Greece and as it was pointed out in the statements, the decision has to do not only for the protection of public health, but also the fight against the informal economy.

The representatives of the industry expressed their satisfaction and expressed the wish that the measure be developed into a permanent one and not be limited to the initial decision for a period of six months.

The Minister of Development and Investment, Adonis Georgiadis, stated:

The Ministry of Development, supporting the industry with a decision of the Prime Minister, solves a basic request, so that they can function in the best possible way, always of course adhering to the measures so that we can pass this 4th wave of the pandemic in the best possible way. ” .

Secretary-General of Commerce and Consumer Protection Sotiris Anagnostopoulos said: strengthens. “One of the cases in which the strengthening of the sector is achieved, is the temporary restriction of the marketing of cosmetic products for professional use until the expiration of the measures for the coronavirus”.

Giannis Chatzitheodosiou, president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, stressed: “We are very pleased that after the mediation of the Central Union of Chambers for GSEVEE, the request of the hairdressers’ branch was heard and the minister conveyed to the Prime Minister something that is not fair and right: in the branch Professional products can be sold everywhere, because this increases tax evasion and by-trade. Now the government has promised that these products will be sold only to those who are professionals and only by showing their professional identity. We consider it a success in the many problems that this industry is facing and we believe that this measure can directly benefit the professionals in the industry “.

George Kavvathas, president of GSEVEE stated:

“Today, a big and timeless problem of the hairdressing sector is being solved, with the intervention of the Prime Minister himself and the support of the Minister of Development, Mr. Georgiadis. Professional products will now be sold only to professionals with the presentation of professional identity. “And this has to do not only with the protection of public health, but also with the fight against the informal economy.”

Dimitris Mademtzis, general secretary of the Federation of Hairdressers, Barbers of Greece, pointed out: “Today was a first step in the best direction. If professional products are not sold everywhere we will be able to control the informal economy to some extent. We still want many steps.
