After 14 years, where their salaries have shrunk significantly, civil servants from January 1, 2024, will see significant increases in their salaries, while pensioners will also have an improvement in their income for the second year in a row.

At the same time, both of these social categories may find themselves doubly benefited if they have children, since the tax-free limit increases for them.

It is estimated that the relevant bill will come for consultation, together with all the direct interventions, perhaps next Monday, since as the prime minister has repeatedly emphasized, the government wants to mark its footprint with “good morning” in this way , which is nothing more than the consequence of words and actions.

So the roughly 660,000 civil servants from January 1 – that is, with salaries to be paid before the New Year – will see their pay rise, something that has happened for 14 years. The total cost will amount to 500 million euros.

The intervention will be horizontally with an increase of 50 euros per month for everyone employees regardless of seniority, education, an additional increase of 20 euros per month for those with one child, 50 euros for those with two children and a corresponding increase for those with three children. At the same time, there is also an increase in the position allowance, perhaps more than 50 euros per month.

The increases will concern both civil servants and special payrolls (security forces), with the above categories having seen their salaries drop drastically in the years of the memorandums, with the implementation of the uniform payroll, but also the abolition of Christmas gifts , Easter and the leave allowance.

So it is expected:

* The entry salary of the civil servant with compulsory education is expected to reach 840 from 780 euros today, which is a combination of equalization with the minimum wage in the private sector and the increase in benefits. In particular, with the increase in wages to 840 euros and the addition of a child benefit for an employee with one child, the new salary scale brings the monthly wages to 910 euros. In family allowances, civil servants with one child from the beginning of the year will receive 70 euros (from 50 euros), with two children 120 euros (from 70 euros), with three children 170 euros (from 120 euros) and with four children 220 euros (from 170 euros).

* It is possible that there will also be an increase in position allowances. Based on today’s data, the assumption of responsibility in the State is compensated with the position allowance which amounts to 290 euros for heads of departments, 350 euros for heads of sub-directorates, 450 euros for heads of departments and 1,000 euros for general heads addresses.

* Pensioners are expected to receive an increase from the 1st of the year, which will amount to at least 3% and it is very likely that a one-time financial aid will be given again to all those who, due to personal differences, will not receive increases or these will be very small ones. Also, pensioners who continue to be employed, with the implementation of the law that will enable the proportional reduction of the pension depending on the time of employment, may see an increase in the amount of their pension. Today this is reduced by 30% regardless of whether the employment is full or part time.

As far as tax-free is concerned, this will provide for an additional tax deduction of 1,000 euros for families with children. Specifically, for families with one child it increases from 9,000 euros to 10,000 euros, with two children from 10,000 to 11,000 euros, with three children to 12,000 euros and with four children to 13,000 euros.

In particular, there is an annual benefit of 90 euros for families with one child and up to 220 euros for families with more children. The tax-free limit for taxpayers without children remains at 8,633 euros
