The Internal Revenue Service will open, starting at 9 am this Monday (24), the consultation of the residual lot of the January Income Tax. The refund money will be deposited on January 31, directly into the bank account informed by the taxpayer in the income tax return.
A total of BRL 281.9 million will be paid to 240,744 taxpayers. Of this resource, R$ 96.6 million will be allocated to priority taxpayers. Are they:
- 3,586 elderly people over 80 years old
- 28,358 elderly people between 60 and 79 years old
- 2,129 taxpayers with any physical or mental disability or serious illness
- 9,233 taxpayers whose main source of income is teaching
In addition to those with priority, 197,438 non-priority taxpayers, who submitted the declaration by January 16 of this year, will receive the refund at the end of the month.
According to the Federal Revenue, this residual lot is composed of taxpayers who submitted a declaration a long time ago, but had some pending that was only settled now, and those who delivered or rectified their declarations recently.
To find out if your refund has been released, the taxpayer must follow the following steps:
- Access the Federal Revenue website (gov.br/receitafederal)
- Click on “My Income Tax”
- Click on “Check Refund”
- Access the simplified or complete query status options for the declaration
Access can also be made via the Federal Revenue app for tablets and smartphones.
In case of deactivation of the current account informed or other similar problem, the refund amount will be available for up to one year at Banco do Brasil. The taxpayer must look for the bank to reschedule the credit of the amounts, via the online portal or call the relationship center.
Amounts not redeemed within one year must be requested on the Federal Revenue website. After clicking on “My Income Tax”, the user must select “Request a refund not redeemed in the banking network”.
who does not receive
The person who sent a rectifying statement (which corrects or includes some value or information previously declared) goes to the end of the refund payment queue. This happens because the Revenue considers the date of delivery of the corrected declaration. The period for correcting the declarations is five years.
Those who fell into the fine mesh for making mistakes when declaring the tax also do not receive the refund until the pending correction is corrected. Omission of income and failure to declare medical expenses are among the reasons that most lead the taxpayer to fall into the fine mesh of the IR.
The taxpayer who is still waiting for the payment of his refund must access the extract of his declaration to verify if the IRS found pending issues and, if applicable, correct them by means of a rectifying declaration.
