Itapemirim gives up on paralyzing bus lines; see excerpts

by

The ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) reported this Thursday (27) that Viação Itapemirim requested the cancellation of the suspension of 16 interstate bus routes, which it had requested from the agency in December. The lines would stop working this Thursday.

According to the Itapemirim press office, the company carried out an operational readjustment and assessed that it would be possible to continue operating the bus lines. ANTT accepted the company’s request.

The lines, which serve 73 markets, were not paralyzed.

“ANTT reaffirms its role in regulating and inspecting the land transport sector in Brazil and its commitment to always maintaining the continuity and availability of services, which must be provided with quality and safety to the population,” the agency said in a statement.

Employees of the Itapemirim and Kaissara buses, which are from the same group, reported earlier this month that they were behind on salaries. According to the group’s press office, late payments are being brought up to date, and there is no forecast of further requests for stoppages for land transport.

The aerial remains suspended. The company stopped operating flights on December 17, leaving thousands of passengers without transport.

On the 7th, Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) banned the group from selling tickets until Itapemirim demonstrates that it has fulfilled all corrective actions for consumers affected by the suspension of its activities, such as re-accommodation and full refund of tickets.

According to the group’s advice, the company is still in talks with Anac to resume its AOC (Air Operator Certificate) and return to flying as soon as possible, but there is no forecast for that.
