The new impulse in the mask market, which was already being felt by the retail race in the new wave of contamination by the omicron variant, now reaches the industry.
Manufacturers of the PFF2 model this month recorded a growth of approximately 20% in demand compared to December, according to Raul Casanova Júnior, executive director of Animaseg (National Association of Safety and Work Protection Material Industry).
He predicts another boost in the next month and says that the movement has already put pressure on the price of the product. The unit has left the industry at an average of R$ 1.50, says Casanova. At the end of 2021, when some cities made the use of protection more flexible, it reached R$ 1.
The unit value is still well below that recorded at the peak of the pandemic, when it ranged from R$3 to R$9.
