Bar and restaurant owners calculate the impacts of Covid and Influenza on their operations in the last month.

According to a survey by Abrasel, an industry association, 76% of establishments had to dismiss at least one contaminated employee in the 30 days prior to the survey, carried out between January 15 and 27 with 1,300 businessmen.

On average, 1 in 4 workers was removed from their activities in the period.

The advance of the ômicron variant during a period that usually has strong movement in bars and restaurants brought a headache for entrepreneurs, who bet on reheating to bring their cash and debts up to date.

Despite this, Abrasel says that the sector has a recovery trend. According to the entity, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, more establishments registered a profit (34%) than a loss (31%) in a month. The rest was in balance.

The indicator had the worst result in March last year, when 82% of entrepreneurs said they were operating in the red.
