The Commission’s report showing a reduction of the VAT gap by 3.2% in our country was commented on by the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Haris Theocharis.

“The European Commission recently published the report on the VAT deficit, the so-called VAT gap. According to the report, Greece in 2021 showed a reduction in the deficit by 3.2 percentage points, i.e. at 17.8% of VTTL compared to 21% the previous year” he said characteristically.

“This is another essential step which proves the progress that has been made in strengthening tax awareness, strengthening tax justice and tackling tax evasion” emphasized the Deputy Minister of Economy.

“Sure, the road is still long, but our will is also strong. The government of the New Republic and the Ministry of National Economy and Finance will remain firmly committed to the plan of those necessary reforms which, through the modernization of procedures, the digitization of the economy and the evolution of control mechanisms, will face chronic pathologies of the system and strengthen social cohesion” he concluded.
