The application details of the specialist, green electricity tariffwhich will enter into force from January 1, 2024 and will be provided by all suppliers specified in a Ministerial Decision, signed by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Thodoros Skylakakis and the Deputy Minister, Alexandra Sdoukou.

As the Ministry of the Interior points out, the decision specifies a number of key issues, in relation to the new, green tariff.

More specifically:

  • The final supply price will be announced by the first day of each consumption month.
  • The special invoice may also include a fixed commission fee of up to 5 euros per month, as well as discounts.
  • One of its main innovations is that on the consumption bill, the provider will show a single – after calculating any discounts – the final supply price in Euro/MWh per billing month.
  • The basic supply price will remain fixed, at least for six months, while the fixed supply charge and discounts can be modified every month, following an announcement on the providers’ website and an update with the first consumption bill that will follow the modification.
  • The providers are obliged to publish on their website – in a conspicuous place – and to notify the Regulatory Authority of Waste, Energy and Water (R.A.A.E.Y.), until December 1, 2023, all the tariff parameters of the special tariff , which will apply to each category of customers.
  • From January 1, 2024, a QR code and the link to R.A.A.E.Y.’s price comparison tool will be inserted in the consumption bills and in every information message from the providers to their customers (electronic or printed). (www.energycost.gr). In this way, the consumer will be able to easily compare the common tariff between the providers and choose the one he wants according to his needs.
  • Consumers who do not choose one of the available tariffs (fixed: blue, variable: yellow, dynamic: orange, special: green) will automatically switch to the green tariff. Nevertheless, it will be possible for them to return to their previous contract with their provider with a simple procedure until 31.1.2024 and to choose any type of tariff or provider, drawing up a relevant contract at any time.
  • The special electricity supply tariff will be offered by the providers and can be chosen by the consumers even after December 31, 2024.

It is also emphasized that R.A.A.E.Y. will monitor the implementation of the above Ministerial Decision, especially in terms of pricing, transparency, competitive conditions and the appearance of abusive practices.
