by

The government is more than doubling the subsidy for the first 300 kilowatt hours for November and December from 39 euros per month for all households, from 18 euros in October, as announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy Costas Skrekas. The subsidy for the first 300 kilowatt hours amounts to 45 euros per month for the social tariff.

For natural gas, in addition to the 80 to 170 million euros discount, along with 15% of the horizontal discount for all, the charging of network fees for each household is suspended, which means a reduction in bills from 20 to 40 euros. At the same time, the energy fund is being strengthened from 150m euros to 600m euros, while the payment of utility bills is suspended from November to March.

The minister announced that the total government interventions to deal with the effects of the energy crisis increase to 620 million euros from 500 million euros.

The price of electricity has skyrocketed to 200 euros per megawatt hour in October and is now at 209 euros, Costas Skrekas acknowledged, announcing an expansion of the support package. He said the government was directly subsidizing all low-voltage bills to protect households. From 9 euros this subsidy increased to 18 euros and now more than doubles to 39 euros per month for the first 300 kilowatt hours for November and December.

Greece, the minister stressed, was among the first two countries to take measures for the energy crisis in the EU, creating a mechanism for absorbing accuracy.
