Cashier has lines to withdraw the PIS 2022 allowance

by

The first day of payment of the PIS salary allowance began with queues at Caixa branches in the east region of São Paulo. Beneficiaries who attended in person complained about the difficulty in accessing the benefit on digital channels, such as the Caixa Tem app, which was also the target of several complaints from users in the payment of emergency aid.

Workers who were born in January and worked in 2020 with a formal contract for 30 days, consecutive or not, begin to receive the allowance this Tuesday (8).

Cleaning assistant Aline Barros, 37, is among the workers who meet the requirements to receive payment this Tuesday and arrived in line at the agency located on Avenida Sapopemba, in São Mateus, two hours before its opening. “I tried to transfer through the app, but it didn’t work, so I thought I’d better come.”

In the same line, baker Leandro Wernec, 37, also arrived early to withdraw the amount, which he hopes to use to pay bills and buy clothes. He couldn’t download the app, so he chose to go to the agency with his personal document.

Caixa announced that beneficiaries without a checking or savings account at the bank will have the amount automatically deposited in Digital Social Savings opened by the institution and which can be moved through the Caixa Tem application.

Nearby, at the branch located on Avenida Ragueb Chohfi, teacher Lucilene Souza, 38, says she was unable to confirm the information on the bank’s telephone service and was told that she should go to one of the branches for the withdrawal.

“It’s an injustice. The agency opens at 10 am and we miss the morning of work to come and receive money that is ours”, he says.

The box office attendant Ciciliana Rodrigues, 24, was one of the first in line at the unit and attended in person because her Caixa Tem app was blocked at the time of emergency aid withdrawals.

In the queues, the mood was one of dissatisfaction with the application, and distrust about the real functioning of the digital channels. “It doesn’t work, it causes a lot of trouble. You really have to come”, says the attendant.

Allowance of up to BRL 1,212 will be used to pay bills

The destination of the money to be withdrawn was the same for all ears. “Pay bills,” Ciciliana said.

The amount, which can reach a minimum wage (R$ 1,212), is also available to residents of cities in Bahia and Minas Gerais that have declared an emergency situation because of the rains.

The regular pay schedule will run until March 31, according to the worker’s month of birth. This year, the government automatically includes about 140,000 workers who did not receive the allowance in 2021 due to errors in data processing on the Rais platform or eSocial.

These beneficiaries do not need to take any social security measures to be included in the payment schedule, according to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

As of March 31, the department will begin to receive requests to withdraw forgotten allowances, which were not withdrawn in previous years by workers. PIS money is left over every year, as many workers do not withdraw because they do not know that they are entitled to the allowance.
