ANS prevents sale of Amil plan administrator

by

The ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) decided on Tuesday night (8) to prevent the control of APS (Personalized Health Care), of the Amil Group, from being transferred.

Due to the agency’s decision, the current partners of APS —Amil and Santa Helena— are prevented from withdrawing from the company’s membership. According to ANS, the measure was taken due to the lack of information about the alleged acquisition of corporate control of APS by a financial restructuring company.

The agency adds that, since January 2, APS has been responsible for assisting the approximately 330,000 beneficiaries of individual and family plans in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Paraná who were transferred from Amil.

“For not having received a request to change the corporate structure of the APS and in view of the news published by the press on the subject, the ANS summoned representatives of the Amil Group for clarification”, says the note from the agency.

At the meeting, which took place this Tuesday afternoon in Rio de Janeiro, ANS questioned Amil about the acquisition of control of APS, the financial capacity of the partners to guarantee the sustainability of the operator and the value involved in the operation.

“Our biggest concern is with the consumer. Under no circumstances can there be any interruption in the provision of assistance to beneficiaries of the PHC portfolio, especially to those who are in hospital or in continuous treatment”, said the CEO. from ANS, Paulo Rebello.

The agency reinforces that, until further decision, APS remains an operator of Grupo Amil and is entirely the responsibility of Grupo Amil.

Sought, Amil did not respond until the publication of the report.
