“With June’s European elections as a central political milestone, the New Left can play a leading role in political developments, for the reconstitution of the forces of those who will find themselves in very great difficulties from the government of Mr. Mitsotakis and who can form an alternative solution to the problems of the Greek society”, emphasized the MP of Athens First Dimitris Tzanakopoulos, who spoke at the first open assembly in Thessaloniki, with the aim of establishing the new political body.

“We have started throughout Greece a process of forming our new political entity.

Today we are here, in Thessaloniki, for a first open assembly with citizens from the progressive, the democratic, the left field, who have come to participate and co-shape the political framework of the new political body. With the aim of filling an existing void, which exists in the progressive, democratic and left-wing space, and to be able to build a force that will stand up to the governance of the New Democracy and the Right,” said Mr. Tzanakopoulos.

The Secretary of the New Left Parliamentary Group, Florina MP Peti Perka, expressed her optimism for the new political entity.

“Things are very optimistic, there is the political space and the mood of the world, the need, I would say, to create this body of the renewing, modern, ecological Left.

I think it will go very well. We have fun, mood, courage and above all politics to become this body. Things are optimistic because there was also a disappointment from SYRIZA and for the election of its new president”, emphasized Ms. Perka.
