R$ 8.8 million of Nota Paulista expires this Tuesday (15); see how to rescue

The São Paulo State Finance Department announced that about R$ 8.8 million in credits from the São Paulo Invoice will expire next Tuesday (15th). The date marks the deadline of 12 months established by the government for the redemption of values ​​by consumers.

The credits were released on February 16, 2021 and include users who registered their CPF or CNPJ and also those who did not register directly with the Nota Fiscal Paulista and, therefore, may not know that they are entitled to receive the amounts.

Since October, the deadline to redeem the credits of the Nota Fiscal Paulista fell from 5 years to 12 months. That is, the amounts that were released 12 months ago and are not redeemed are cancelled, and the funds return to the state coffers.

The change in the validity period occurred through article 62 of Law No. 17,293/2020. In October, the first cancellation of old credits with a shorter term took place. In this first cancellation, 48 million consumers had R$ 1 billion in credits to mature.

In 2021, according to the Treasury, R$ 307.4 million in credits from Nota Paulista were released for individuals, entities, condominiums and Simples Nacional.

Who is entitled to credit?

Consumers who ask for an invoice and inform their CPF at the time of purchase are automatically entitled to the credit. To redeem the values, however, it is necessary to register in the Nota Fiscal Paulista program.

How to redeem the credit from the Nota Fiscal Paulista

To receive the amount, it is necessary to request the transfer of credits from the Nota Fiscal Paulista system to the consumer’s current account or savings account on the Sistema da Nota Fiscal Paulista website. It is also possible to download the Nota Fiscal Paulista application on mobile phones with Android operating systems (at this link) and iOS (here).

After accessing the system, it is necessary to follow the following steps to redeem the credit:

  • On the home screen, access the system with the CPF or CNPJ and the password registered in the Nota Fiscal Paulista program; if it is the first access, it will be necessary to click on “Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas” or “Cadastros de Pessoas Jurídicas” and register

  • In the “Current Account” menu, click on “Use Credits”

  • Choose between “Credit in Current Account”, “Credit in Savings Account” or “Discharge or reduction in the IPVA value”; the option “Discount on IPVA” is only available in the month of October.

To transfer credit to a checking or savings account:

  • Select the options “Credit in Current Account” or “Credit in Savings Account”

  • The system already fills in the name and CPF/CNPJ of the account holder, in addition to the balance available in the program

  • It is necessary to fill in the fields: Bank code, bank, branch, branch digit, account number, account digit and amount to be transferred; the account must belong to the holder and, in the case of savings, cannot be linked to a current account and must be from a banking institution that accepts DOC/TED transfers for savings

  • Click “Confirm”

In case of forgotten password

The consumer who has forgotten his password must access the program’s website and click on “I forgot my password”. When entering your CPF and clicking “OK”, you will be presented with three options:

  • Sending a phrase to remember the password (by email)

  • Sending a page address for registering a new password (by email)

  • And finally, the “Re-register” option. The state suggests using this option as a last resort, for example, if the consumer forgot their password and changed their email. For security reasons, this option requires mailing or attendance at Procon, Poupatempo or at the tax office of the Secretary of Finance (it is necessary to schedule the service) to unlock the password.
