The number of cannabis-based medicines authorized by Anvisa for sale in pharmacies in Brazil has now reached 11.
Not all have been placed in retail yet, but there is a forecast for the second quarter, according to BRCann (an association that brings together companies operating in the area).
Five of them have already started to be distributed.
“This year, doctors will have five options on the shelves. Medicines in pharmacies leave doctors more comfortable to prescribe”, says Tarso Araújo, executive director of BRCann.
Despite the increase in supply, it is still difficult to estimate the price level, according to him.
“The products are not subject to the price control of registered medicines. These values are still unknown”, he says.
