The most dangerous road in the world is located in Bolivia and connects La Paz with Junga. It is an inhospitable path, where hundreds of drivers lose their lives every year.
Because of this it got its name as “Death road”. Prior to 2008, there were approximately 300 deaths per year. All the way there are crosses that mark the places where vehicles have fallen.
On this road of just 69 kilometers, two cars can barely fit. It stands centimeters from cliffs of 600 meters and does not have the slightest safety railing.
The route starts from 3660 meters altitude in La Paz and goes up to 4650 meters in La Cumbre pass and then descends to Koroiko, which is located at 1200 meters.
It needs special attention as it has steep cliffs at every turn. It is full of waterfalls and has mud landslides.
The “road of death” was built by prisoners from Paraguay and is the preferred route for intrepid truck drivers, although there is a safer road.
