According to ELSTAT data, in December 2023 the unemployed amounted to 430,088 people, marking a decrease of 146,424 people compared to December 2022 (25.4%) and by 746 people compared to November 2023 (0.2%).
To women the unemployment rate rose to 11.7% from 16.2% in December 2022 and for men to 7.1% from 8.9%.
By large age groups, in the 15-24 year old group the unemployment rate stood at 22.3% from 30.4% in December 2022 and in the 25-74 age group to 8.3% from 11.2%.
