With an amendment by the Ministry of National Economy and Finance filed in the following days, are enacted strict penalties on companies that sell cash registers and terminals (POS) where they will not upgrade their software until February 29, the day on which the deadline for interfacing POS with cash registers for businesses also expires.

The one in question upgrading the software of cash register and POS companies is considered necessary in order to successfully complete the interconnection of the cash registers with the POS of all businesses.

At the same time, it is only a matter of time before the fines are announced for businesses that have to connect POS with their cash registers by 2/29.

The Ministry of National Economy and Finance is not going to back down from the implementation of this emblematic reform as, in addition to contributing to the fight against tax evasion, it is also a project included in the Recovery Fund and its non-implementation will lead to a loss of community resources.

Progress is already significant, with the POS registry established in September 2023 and the first transmission of data from providers completed. In October 2023, all relevant decisions regarding the timetable and interconnection process were issued. In November, the deadline for submitting a statement to the POS Registry (1,032,000 POS are registered), concerning active POS until 30/09/2023, while throughout December and January providers had the time to comply with the rules of the new declaration and operation framework for both wired and wireless POS.

The work of interconnection is about to be completed and everyone must assume their responsibilities in time.
