Athens Airport takes off on the Stock Exchange and confirms the Greek recovery” is the title of today’s publication in the French financial newspaper Les Echos, which refers to the intense interest of investors in “Eleftherios Venizelos”.

The publication points out that the listing of Athens International Airport on the Stock Exchange is of such great interest because it is the key infrastructure of Greece’s leading industry: of tourism.

It is highlighted that the airport welcomed 28 million travelers last year, an increase of 24% over a year.

It is also pointed out that in the last five years it has added 69 international destinations to its network (out of a total of 155) and that it cooperates with 32 airlines, making it the 9th busiest airport in Europe.

It also reports that this summer, EasyJet will offer five new destinations (Lyon, Bordeaux, Venice, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca) and that Spanish low-cost carrier Volotea will sell 835,000 seats to the Greek capital, a 23% increase in period of one year.

Finally, in another publication in the same French newspaper, reference is also made to the phenomenon of overtourism that plagues some Greek islands, such as Mykonos and Santorini, which, as pointed out, see their bookings decrease.
